Generally, the forerunner of Bogor City was Pakuan Pajajaran which was the capital of the Hindu Kingdom in West Java. However, as a modern city, Bogor was born along with the construction of the "Buitenzorg" Villa in 1745 at the initiative of the Governor-General Gustaf Wiliam Baron van Imhof who ruled between 1743-1750.
